Help : Debt Collection Agencies

Hi All Hope you can help
Has anyone had the experience of being chased by two companies for the same debt. What is the legal position regarding ownership of the debt? If you make a settlement with one company in theory you could be chased for the same debt even it was settled. I am at present paying two agencies and neither will recognize each other with the amount I am paying. Thanks

I owed virgin media some money, i was refusing to pay beacause they didn't cancel my contract when I'd asked and they kept billing me, so i wanted a reduced amount. we then had wescot credit service chasing us for the higher amount. I finally went ape at virgin and told them to discount me, which they did. I eventually paid this reduced amount to Virgin, not wescot, who were still chasing me for the higher amount. they didnt want to know about the discount.
I'd contact the original company you held the debt with and explain the situation xxxx0 -
hi there , first thing is stop paying both thats crazy . Then request a CCA AND A NOTICE OF ASSIGNMENT from both . This put the accounts in dispute , no action can be taken until a copy of the C C AGREEMENT is provided . There are template letters available for this all have a look on my post Lets all ask for our CCA The OC will have sold the account on to a DCA , who inturn have sold it on again . Therefore its is very possiable a CCA IS LOST . Without a signed copy of a CCA the debt is unenforceable . Who was the debt with and who has it now ????0
