Can anyone please give me some advice with regards to Capital One
Story is I used to have a credit card with Cap One, I paid off the this credit card in full July last year, the sum I owed was approx £700 total. When I rang up to pay off the card I specifically said will the account be closed and I will no longer receive anymore statements etc off them, guy on the other end said your account is closed, make sure you cut your card up and you will receive one final statement saying I do not owe anything. Since then I have moved home but managed to keep the same home tel number, Then December last year I started getting phone calls from capital one and they were keep hanging up, after ignoring these calls these would ring back and ask me to confirm my DOB and post code, I refused to do this as I no longer have anything to do with capital one, they would then say well we cant discuss your account any further until you confirm your details, I would tell them I no longer had an account with them and they would then get stroppy and hang up, I have since had to change my home number, now they ring my mobile and hang up, they even call after 8.30pm most evenings and hang up. Trying to get thru to capital one to sort this out is impossible, I am at my wits end, I don’t want to give them my new address as I dont want junk mail from them etc. I have since found out that I apparently still owe some kind of insurance on the card which was not cancelled when I paid my card off, surely capital one should of informed me to do this when they were quick enough to inform me about the insurance when I got the card from them. I am truly at my wits end and having many sleepless nights

While you are not taking calls or communicating with them they will continue to call.
You need to either call them or write to them and ask what they are calling about and take relevant action from there. If they are chasing a sum due in error then you need to take action.
While you are refusing their calls you are making the situation worse, they clearly cannot write to you as you've moved. This won't go away, if you want to sort it I'm afraid you've got to meet them head-on and speak to them.0 -
This is why every thing should be put in writing . Its no good to tell them on the phone to cancel the account . Have you a record , proof of cancellation? I cancelled a card and paid balance on phone , only to be sent another card a year later .0

I was actully thinking of giving them my new address to sort this out once and for all, trouble is they hang up every time they call, it is also impsossible to get thru to anyone at capital one as they ask you type in your account number to proceed, I no longer have an account number as I closed the account last year, Thnaks for your advice guys, will let you know outcome
cheers0 -

But can't you give them your old account number? If there is something outstanding on it they will still have it as "live".
Sorry, I'm confused!
What do you want to happen? If you want to speak to them about it & sort it out, why not just do so when they ring?
If you don't want to pay the o/s charges, you will still have to speak to them about it, or write to them to argue your case (ie that you were told your balance was clear).0
