Inheritance Tax

Hi I wonder if anyone can advise - my parents live in Spain and have taken Spanish Residency. They have wills but are they covered under Spanish or UK Inheritance Tax laws?

It depends mainly on where their assets are located, not on where they live. So potentially both.
  • There home is in Spain which is their main asset although they have savings in UK as well.

My father has a holiday property in Spain and also has residencia status over there even though he spends most of his time living in the UK.

As I recall, the advice he was given was to have seperate wills drawn up under Spanish & English law for the Spanish & English assets.
