QUOTE:
A spokesman for NR says: "It is something we have confirmed for some time. Since September we said we were taking prudent steps to reign back our lending.
"We're writing to customers coming to the end of their deals and think it's fair to say there are probably better ones out there, and to conhtact (sic) an IFA about them." The spokesman adds that customers approaching the end of their current deals are welcome to remain with the bank on its SVR, which is currently 7.59%.0 -
Did they really use the word 'prudent' in September?
:rotfl:

Please God, let me live long enough to hear an American President admit that they did not land on the Moon in 1969.
Didn't see you as a conspiracy theorist, GGpoppy100 -
I know, but always did think it was a bit odd with the moon landing. LOL0

I don't know where the housing market is heading but I do know that the Americans have not landed on the moon.
I just think it's funny that they still pretend that they did after all this time. Maybe they will come clean next year on the 40th anniversary. The world would laugh so much, we'd forgive them about Iraq and the credit crunch and George Bush (well, two out of three ain't bad).

Its the many shadows and the flying flattering flag on windstill moon where there is no wind always made me wonder. I think this moon landing is a fluke as well. As is area 52 which probably does exist. Ahhhh yes, to be a fly on the wall.......0

they will be left with an interesting book...
high ltv at high rates... plus those long term 10/15 yr fixed they offered a couple of yrs ago at below 5% !!!.. wonder if they are hedged totally on those... as many borrowed more than needed , and then overpaid.. as option to draw back at same rate... they even seemed to allow porting with topping up - massive amounts from what I can see on those fixed deals, wonder if those will stop.Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -

This could be much further off topic than the House Price Crash / private schools thread, but;

Does anyone else think NR are behaving very badly? i can understand why the Together mortgage has been withdrawn to new customers, but we exisitng customers have done NOTHING WRONG and yet we now have the rug pulled under our feet.
Most of us cannot remortgage as techincally we are in negative equity (although the attached loan is unsecured)
Most of us are happily paying the repayments and are not behind. NR by pulling the fixed rate deals etc and forcing us onto SVR is going to CAUSE repossessions.
SURELY this is unethical? I'm wondering if we should start making a FUSS, get Martin Lewis involved, GMTV, the FSA, I don't care who but we need to get NR to look after us a bit better. We have done NOTHING WRONG..its a mess of their making!!
I suggest NR immediately honours exisiting rates for another 2 years...after all its the rise of the proprty market (eventually) that will get us out of this mess. Raising interest rates when borrowers have nowhere to go is plain wrong.0
