this thread is turning into a bit of a slagging match aint it, I appreciate people have strong views buts lets keep it on topic hey and constructive as many people are interested and keen to learn new information. Many people on here are not trained in the financial world of things and just want to state an opinion and perhaps learn some new things, lets not shoot them down hey0

So for Together mortgage holders:
The SVR rate of 5.84% takes effect from Jan 1st 2009?
and
The SVR rate of 5.34% takes effect from 1st Feb 2009?
Does this then make 2009 the year for overpaying if you can't remortgage and weren't already doing it?English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -

Well if together product it is 0.01% less than SVR...
So yes....
January 2009: 5.83%
February 2009: 5.33%0 -
First has anyone who has a Staying Together mortgage received their letter saying that they will get the 5.83% because I have phoned Northern Rock on several occasions and they say I will get the letter but still have not received it.
Second, the web site clearly states that those on the SVR will get it starting 1 December 2008. I have been on the SVR since November 2008 and therefore should have technically gotten it since 1 December 2008 yet they explain that since I am Staying Together I should not even though I phoned in November 2008 and they said I would be reduced to 5.83% then. Who could we complain to as I get the impression that Northern Rock is not adhering to what they stated on their web site.
Finally for those who have clearly stated on this web site that those of us on the Staying Together plan deserve to pay above the odds because we are a financial risk I would like say for the record I take great offense to this. My H and I have NEVER missed a payment and actually have paid extra on the loan! We pay our bills on time and were advised by our Mortgage broker, at the time, to take this loan as it was the best on the market.

First of all it is a Together Mortgage, the irony of Staying Together is rather sweet considering NR dont want existing clients!!
All Together clients are a higher risk purely & simply because of the extent of the borrowing, nothing to do with missing payments
NR ARE passing on the cut, so it will at some point show up in yr account/on yr doormat0 -

Read the last few pages of this thread. The situation for Together mortgages has already been well covered.0 -
Just got my letter saying my NR tracker rate goes down from 5.74% TO 3.74% in Jan '09. Bit of a mixed feeling about the new pay rate and time taken to cut. Is it greed to want more cuts and more quickly? I was not unhappy with 5-6% beginning of 2008.0

Yes it is.
Suppose when rates increase you will be posting the same about delay in your rate going up?0 -
