  • Some good points, being a self employed broker can be tough on personal life. Imagine texting your solicitor 10:45pm asking a simple questionor for a call? Imagine calling your machanic on a Sunday night to talk about a worry with your car?

Is a strange one, we seem to be 24/7 contactable, I dont mind late ish calls, its amob so I can ignore it, but the text I got at 3am ish was little harsh, idiot forgot that he was in Las Vegas!!

I agree with the turning people away, we get the blame for getting mortgages but you should see the !!!! we get for telling a client that they are going a step to far! Guess what, the broker down the road will do it!

aye, it's a tough life being a mortgage broker !!!

i can't even begin to imagine how tough it is. your suits must get very shiny...

    !!!!!!...
  • for goodness sake......

not going to bother posting on this thread anymore. just a waste of time. Rather go and see if someone needs my help in the broader forum.

Bulldog, just to clarify, when I said "I can't say anymore", I was referring to printing it on here. There is a good reason for that, please read between the lines;-)

    OK granville

Lets say you work in an office that supplies paper, you have had a hard day (I admit its not hard as in being a nurse, fireman or something along those lines) at the office. Its 9:45 pm on a Friday and a guy from one of the companies you sell to calls you to talk business?!?! Bet you would love that??

I imagine you would be thinking, hang on I finished at 5pm and am not getting paid now??

Anyway you got me hook line and sinker on that one, hope your happy.

Oh and in the next few years you are remortgage and the market has gone pair shaped and you need advice, please dont ask any brokers for help!

  • Dear all

I have watched this thread with great interest over the last 48 hourse after being directed from HPC.

I work in the NHS at a highly specialised level and have many qualifications, degrees and experience. I get paid poorly in the NHS but do well as i work 60hours + and have a successful private practice therefore have no mortgage.

    The following comments may offend.

    1. Mortgage brokers, why suddenly jump on them as the bad guys? Dealings i have had with them (craydon associates) nothing but excellent. Yes you have earnt good/ great money over the last few years, why? Because the things you work in (property) has gone through the roof. Good luck to you. However now there is going to be a period af re-adjustment, some here are honest about that. I hope that all people who are involved in this sector have made provision and invested wisely.

    2. Some very sad individuals here seem to enjoy seeing people suffer.

    3. Brokers etc are being letting down by muppets talking up the current situation (in the media) when intelligent people see that it just isnt like that. Hence the reason you get idiots like scratch the cat being so negative to you guys.

    4. Many people are in the SH*((*T and the quicker we wake up and the public become aware the better.

    5. Why are we blaming the brokers who (the majority) have made money from doing their jobs. The people to blame for this whole mess that is unfolding is GORDON BROWN and Nu Labour. They are the reason the economy is going into melt down. The same as they are responsible for, PFIs (NHS billions indebt), Npfit computer system (nhs billions spent), armed forces in iraq et etc etc.

Come on guys wake up don't blame individuals blame the establishment!!!

    Love

You keep your business and personal phone lines separate. Publish out your business hours and ignore anyone who calls your business line outside these hours.

    It's not rocket science.

I wouldn't use a broker anyway so I won't be missing much. I prefer to manage my own financial affairs.

I believe there are far too many brokers, so a cull is long over due.
To do the job correctly takes a lot of skill. There are far too many 'sales people' in the business now. Thier emphasis is on selling, they have not a clue about the holistic needs and abilities of a client.

The cull is now underway, and hopefuly the 'sales people' will be driven out.
I'm tired of fly by nights arranging 'fast track' mortgages in place of self cert where clients are mislead into believing thier income cannot be checked post completion!

I'm tired of sales people arrange a self cert mortgage and simultaneously a form of income protection where income proof will be sought in the event of a claim.

Everyday I get told by different packagers that other brokers use pay slip and documentation websites! At the same time some brokers claim this is not wide spread! It absolutely is endemic - how on earth do we suppose so many people new to the UK end up with mortgages, cause I sure as heck can never place these cases.

    Cull, and cull again.
