Entitlement to pay award when redundant?

I have been made redundant from my current job and will leave at the end of February. Usually there is an annual pay award provided in January but this year agreement has been delayed and it will be paid in March, backdated to January.
If I were entitled to the pay award, it would increase my redundancy payment and also provide me some back pay. However, our HR department have advised that only employees on 1 March will be entitled to the award. The letter advising of the increase came from the Managing Director and said it was for all employees.
Legally, am I entitled to the increase? Can you point me in the direction of any definitive literature or cases relating to this?

I would presume that you would not be entitled to it.
If they delayed it from January to March then maybe they did this because they were aware of the redundancies at the end of February.
I do not have any specifics to back this up though, so I might be wrong.

Thanks G-G, I'm actually the only one leaving at the end of Feb. There are a few leaving at the end of March, who will be entitled. I guess I'm just unlucky unless anyone else can tell me different.0

As you will not be an employee of the company on the 1st March, you will not be entitled to anything."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
