Hours Cut From 45 to 15

I went into work as normal yesterday only to be told by my boss that my hours would be cut from 45 down to 15 per week, and I was to start the new hours today!
I really, really need to find something else to help pay the bills, but what is the question! The sooner the better too.
I'm an administrator and have over 30 years experience of working in this role, including legal services, insurance, healthcare, estate agency, IT -including web design etc.
Has anyone got any ideas what I could do now please!
Ideally, I'd love to do something from home, but I'm not in the position where it HAS to be from home, I can travel if necessary.
Thanks for any suggestions

Do you have a contract? Are they allowed to change your hours just like that without warning or pay compensation?
Maybe have a look at www.fish4jobs.co.uk or your local job paper, job centre online is pretty good aswell. You can search by job specifics 'administrator' etc, and within a distance from your home postcode.
With that much experience I am sure you will find something suitable.
Best of luck x

Thanks G_G - I'm keeping an eye open on my the Jobcentre site, didn't know about Fish so will look there too.
By the way I was following your thread re "Have I Got The Job" - good luck, I hope you get it.

I'm pretty sure they need to give you more notice than that, otherwise it's classed as a breach of contract! If you are a permanent employee they will have to give you a months notice i'm sure!Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...0

I would definitely take legal advice on this. I'm pretty sure they have to give you formal notice before varying the terms of your contract in any significant way-and boy this is significant !I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Hi, What about working as a virtual assistant? - an admin/PA role you could do from home? Or how about becoming a temp (either short or long term). Also sign up with some local recruitment agencies which specialise in admins. You could also try www.deskdemon.com it's a web site specifically for admins and secretaries. Their forum board has an area for VAs which includes tips for setting up, discusses pricing, marketing etc., They also have a job board. Best of luck.0

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
And Sunny, many thanks too for your suggestion about working as a VA, that would be fantastic for me if I could get it up and running.
