who the hell are hamilton locke?

i received a letter today from them saying that in a survey i indicated that i would be interested in seeking advise from a debt management company.
they are offering me a DMP
this is sooo not true, i have done some surveys but never have i indicated that i need a DMP- i don't! i have one loan that i pay each month with no worries, i always pay my credit card bill in full, have a good credit rating and the only worries i have about money at the moment is that i can't afford to buy the Gina shoes i have fallen in love with :D
i am really peeved at them sending me this as i have never indicated that i want or need a DMP so i don't know where they got this from

As they say, just a DMP company.

Of the type that charges you a fortune for services you can get free elsewhere.

I think they are one of the ones that randomly "cold call" people as well (maybe). So I expect it's just a random mailshot where they have bought your details, and not that they have any genuine idea that you need a DMP.

There are so many people struggling just now that even random mail shots/calls probably find enough likely [STRIKE]victims[/STRIKE] customers.

  • Hi bringmeshoes

It could be random and they are chancing on any old person at any old address or you could have signed up for something that attracts (but obviously not exclusively) people in debt and they have paid to buy the marketing list off of them. Either way there must be quite a few people sitting there thinking 'huh?'.

It is worth registering with the mail preference service (http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/), it takes about three or four months to kick in but it does stop all the junk mail coming through. If you are registered with it then companies that you have no existing relationship with can't write to you out of the blue offering services, if they do you can report them and MPS will investigate and refer to the advertising standards authority for action if needs be.

  • just as i thought really but i'm quite lucky in the respect that although i have debt it's manageable for me and never having been in the unfortunate position of needing anything like this i'm not very clued up about things like this!!
just before christmas i got a letter in the post from provident offering me a loan for 183.2%apr maybe hamilton locke thought if i was stupid enough to take the 'offer ' of a lifetime from provident then i would need their help to pay it all off :rotfl:
