Word/excel do not come on machines - you have to pay for that seperately (not cheap!) or get OpenOffice for free (looks and feels like Windows Office)

I am not a techie, but I used to work for Acer. And on that statement alone, I would never buy a system from them. (Customer services are naff etc)

Try Dell. Go to Hotdealsuk.com (i think) and search for dell there - some of the lovely peeps there spend time searching the Dell site for loop holes and you can get better machines with a better spec than the one from Tesco. Plus when you work out the loophole, go back to Dell via your Quidco account for some cashback!

When you mean games, the games you can play on these entry level machines will not be the fantastic PC-CD Rom wonder things. Entry Level is for surfing and typing and reporting and spreadsheeting and general study stuff!

Erm.... The best non-techie info I can give you is get the faster processer and largest Hard drive you can afford - and if you are picking a machine with Vista on it, you need at least 1gb RAM for it to run smoothly.
  • Decent Laptop for the price.

Yes Wi-Fi does means Wireless Internet.

Remember, check the voucher codes thread for even more money off at Tesco.

    Good luck! x

I have actually bought this laptop and it's fine, my friend has always had acer computers and she swears by them. I think it's a persoanl thing though, i hate LG phones but others love them so my advice is just go with the best you can afford. The laptop you mention has enough memory and is quick enough for what i do with it, emails, internet and typing reports if you want it for gaming and lots of online downloading then maybe it's not for you.
  • thx very much
