I too have just come across the thread, and cannot believe the ridiculous situation you have been put in.
I can understand why you are so frustrated - it's infuriating when you've devoted so much energy to fighting something, and when you want to ensure the same thing doesn't happen to others.
Hopefully anyone else who ends up in this situation will find this board - maybe your new role can be advising others in the same situation on how to proceed? If you know anyone who can build websites, maybe they could throw together a cheap and quick site that's well optimised for search engines, so that anyone in the same situation can find your advice easily? Just a thought.
I hope this is the end of it for you.0 -
Thank you for all the messages. I may well live to regret this but I've decided to go ahead with my appeal hearing. I have seriously considered withdrawing (which is what my partner wants me to do) but I think I need to do this! After a conversation with the benefits manager, in which he said "when they win", I decided to push ahead. The payment made by the OR does not affect the original decision by the council and despite the payment, I am still entitled to have my appeal heard.
I'm pretty nervous right now...this time tomorrow.....0 -
All the best with your appeal Chazpots!
Haven't been able to add anything to your thread but have been read it with interest.:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
I fully understand where you are coming from Chazpots. If you want to take it all the way, then you go for it! Without some people being willing to stick their necks out then the rules won't change.
And all the very, very best for tomorrow.0 -

After waking up this morning, snapping at the family and glugging nearly a bottle of rescue remedy.....the appeal's been adjourned!!!
The chairman rang and he's not happy with the councils paperwork and wants them to re-submit. Said the requirements were "quite simple"... Not sure what it means really.
Talk about 11th hour....Gutted!!! Just when I thought I was finally getting somewhere....All pumped up and nowhere to go!!0 -
What a bummer Chaz, do you think they're bottling out because someone somewhere realises they were wrong all along?
Perhaps they're going to pay the OR their money back and hope it all goes away.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I'd like to think that the council had seen the error of their ways, and a refund along with a huge wedge of compensation is on it's way to me!!! Sorry - daydreaming again!!
I'm going to give them a call later to see what I can find out....0 -
Now that would be worth celebrating!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0
