Hello
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for injecting a bit of umph into money saving. I've been very good for about 6 months but I've lost my way a bit these last few weeks as I ended up spending too much for my mum's birthday and this has completely disheartened me as I've been so good and have very little to show for it. I have pretty much paid off a £1000 overdraft which has been good but this year I've made a loss so far. I'm just tiered of not spending any money, I'm bored of my diet I've been trying to just spend £14 a week on food, mostly veg curries, veg chilli, porridge etc. I'm bored of not going out and doing without a car, I'm getting fed up walking everywhere, my bicycle has just broken.
Really sorry for the moan I just need to get inspired again. I'm going to go through my finances and goals again this afternoon and count my out my pennies and two pound coins but if anyone has any ideas for inspiration and getting willpower back I'd be very grateful. If anyone has managed to get back on track would be good to know how you did it.
Thanks in advance
Vicky

Well, if you go back to spending it'll take longer for you to get to the time when all your money will be your own. Then if you live within your means you will never have to suffer like this again. You need this suffering to teach you never to spend more than you earn again so its a good suffering. A kind of Dickens quote - Income £19.99, expenditure £20.00 = unhappiness. Income £19.99, expenditure £19.98 = happiness. What Im trying to say I think is that you can live by this once you get to the debtfree state and this frugality will help you to reach the time that you can take control of your life. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

I've been the same recently. I've just started a new job and have been going out for lunch loads and socialising as I've now got more free time.
What I do when I'm down is calculate what I've paid off so far. I make little goals and fiddle about with my spreadsheet. I know its depressing but think about your debt free date and how good it will feel.Jan 1st 07 Car loan £4830.46@12% Personal Loan £11,517@8% variable Overdraft £1500 July 2009Halifax-£0Debt free date 14th July 2009 :j0 -
thanks, I feel a bit better already having gone through and tidied spreadsheets, situation isn't as bad as I thought and if I'm really careful for next 6 weeks I can get back onto main goal of living off £4000 for year.CC 0% £1,700
