A creditor sent me a letter yesterday for a debt i had forgotton about, this debt is more than 6years old, I think I read somewhere that there was a law to prevent creditors to persue debt more than 6yrs old. Can anyone shed any light? Thanks

If it's more than 6 years since you last acknowledged the debt or made a payment the debt is statute barred. Hopefully will be able to dig out a letter for you to send to them about it.Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

The "Limitation Act" prevents any debt that you have not acknowledged in WRITING or by making a PAYMENT for a period of six years being enforced through the courts. It becomes "Statute Barred"
There is a factsheet to read and letter to send in the link below.
