Went to the local recycling centre yesterday to drop off lots of cardboard like a good recycler and guess what i saw. A man with a big u-haul emptying out the contents of his life.
I had the pleasure of watching him go the the non recyclable and then promptly smash up a perfectly good little blender whilst muttering to himself that will stop them reselling that. Just before i finished he had finished bar one object a desktop PC. Guess what his comment to the recycling staff was "Guess i'll take this back home and burn it as you can never be to sure these days". At which point i told him that he only needed to destroy the hard drive as everything else in the computer is recyclable. He replied "Nah still going to burn it".
It these people whom get my goat if it can't sell it on then what is the problem him giving it away??. I had a fridge freezer, didn't require it anymore and didn't want to give away to the curry's "Disposal Team" so i phoned everyone i know to ask if they wanted a new fridge freezer (Barely a year old) ended going to my sister in law whose very happy now.
Thought i'd just point out the stupidity of some people.
Many thanks

Some people are unbelievable. Why was he so opposed to the possibility of someone else getting use out of his stuff?
And burning a PC? There are so many ways in which that's wrong.0 -

I get angry at the waste centres when I see people chucking cardboard and things into the landfill skip when they are standing rightnext to a cardboard recycling skip!
Mind you, in my office we have 5 seperate recycling bins in the muster areas - does that stop people dumping newspaper into the general waste bins? Of course not. They're too bloody lazy to throw the paper an extra 12" into the newspaper recycling.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0
