So we all own a bit of Northern Rock now - pity no one asked us first.

I recall the day after 'the event' a number of experts lined up on BBC radio 5 to berate the simple folk 'over-reacting' to the situation. The BBC's own financial guru Pauline McCall, and our very own MSE Martin, were adamant in their ascertion that there wasn't a problem and 'this is what banks are doing every day of the week, and the Bank of England is doing nothing particularly alarming'.

Well how much is our overall liability?

A salutory lesson in that the 'experts' are not always right. In fact history tells us otherwise.

I believe the shares will be suspended indefinately but I fervently hope these speculators and hedges who jumped in on the slide lose the lot.
