Hmm, nice looking deal!
Coupla hints on this... if you want more memory don't bother fully upgrading with dell, you can save by buying some yourself seperately e.g. from crucial.com and it's easy to upgrade. E.g. you want 1024MB, well you want a matched pair, so upgrade to 1x512MB with dell and then buy a 512MB from crucial at £52ish, that way you save 40 odd quid.
You can do the same with the hard disk, although transferring the system across or reinstalling would require a bit more knowhow... worth it if u can tho.
Last point, it appears that https://www.quidco.com is offering 6% cashback for Dell in July, so it's even cheaper that way!
Sorely tempted...:cool:0 -

The one I posted for £699 is evalue code N07935 and the price of £699 does include both delivery and VAT.
Hope that helps
If you take the £629 price thru to the checkout, the delivery is free until 27/7/05, so total price is £740 - £40 more. However, you get a free printer with this laptop, and an upgrade friendly 1x512MB mem already on board, which with the other offer would cost an extra £70. So if you are intending to upgrade the memory anyway, and/or want a printer for effectively 40 quid, then on balance it definitely seems the better deal... unless I'm missing something?
Cheers,

Well, the free printer is one that Dell periodically sell off on "special offer" for £9.99. It's very basic, doesn't include a USB cable and only comes with trial-sized ink cartridges.
Guess it depends on what value you place on the printer.0 -

Rpoints and Greasypalm are reliable the jury is still out on quidco

Yeah. For me the decider would be the upgradeability of the laptop - I'd want at least 1G of mem, and so going for the original option would work out dearer. So even without taking into account the printer, it's cheaper for me.
Anyone know of any reason why me as a private buyer wouldn't be able to get the small business deal?

You can get the small business deal - you just loose your rights under the distance selling act, etc.0

nb - if you are interested in high end specs for this laptop, then also look at the Inspiron XPS generation 2. eg evalue code 305 - N07XPS1 Expensive but very nice.0

This offer has now been extended to 25/07/05...0
