free evening and weekend texts on orange payg phones

Hi I got this tip at a friends house today text YES in capital letters to 1173 to receive free evening and weekend texts.

I did this and received a text within minutes from orange saying "thanks we'll send you a text to confirm when the free weekend and evening texts offer has been set up"

I do not know how long this particular offer lasts - when I receive another text from orange (to tell me the offer has started, I assume it will have an expiry date on it) I will come back and update you.

I also do not know whether this will work on contract orange phones. If anyone has any info please post with it.

cheers

Thanks Icefall, I got the same message back, and await confirmation. Like to know how long it lasts though. Cheers, Woodville.

have just had a search around on the orange site and I think I may have found the catch! It says on the site - link is http://www.orange.co.uk/talkplans/payasyougo/topup_offers/thousands.html

"thousands of free evening and weekend texts

Here's something to text your friends about. Top-up your Orange pay as you go phone by a total of £15 or more each month and you can now get 3000 evening and weekend texts absolutely free every month.

This online exclusive offer is open to all customers:
    already an Orange customer?

To receive this offer, you simply need to sign up online. Don't worry if you already have another text offer from Orange , as you can replace it with this one.

every evening between 7pm and 7am

We'll send you a text to confirm you're now getting free evening and weekend texts. To keep your evening and weekend text free every month all you need to do is top-up by a total of £15 or more each month. Don't worry if you miss a month; as soon as you top up a total of £15 or more again in a single month, you'll receive your free texts the following month.

If you have any of the following offers and would prefer to replace it with free evening and weekend texts, just call 450:
    3p text
    free weekend text
    text saver
    talk saver
    Orange Out Here
    Group saver "

so as you have to top up by £15 its not a free offer anymore so would a mod please move this to the appropriate board?

I rang Orange the other day to ask about their "try text" where you get free texts for a month, they said I had already had this (I don't remember) and instead offered me free weekend texts (Friday midnight to Sunday midnight) for 6 months!!
