Help with barclaycard account please

Thank you for reading this and I’m really hoping that someone can help. When I was 18 I had a Barclaycard everything was fine and I thought that this was the best way to build up a credit history. All payments were made each month until one time I needed to use my whole limit to get my car fixed, fine I thought ill pay it off over 2 months. But after that I fractured a vertebra in my back and was unable to work for a long time I informed Barclaycard that I would be unable to make payments. I am 21 now and I have a very successful career in purchasing BUT this still looms over my head. I have bought a credit report online today, on this there is a default for £912 which is fine Credit Solutions Limited (debt collectors) are claiming that I owe £1100. They said that I can settle the account for 60% of the value £547.20 which I will pay straight away. They are still claiming that I owe the greater amount. I will be speaking to Barclaycard first thing in the morning but can anyone understand why they want this much when on my credit file it’s claiming for £912.

Simple, the debt collectors have added there own fees and interest to the debt. If you can pay it off for 60% then do it. You are unlikely to get as good an offer again.

  • Can they do that as I thought the amount defaulted on is the amount they are casing off you. Surely you cant pay more then what it says on your credit file??
