hey, there's a couple of hostels in Portree, i think Skye Backpackers was the one we satyed in and it was fine, right in the centre just beside the bus station. there's a SYHA one in Broadford too which i stayed in last year, i think in the winter it's only open on a friday and saturday night but it was nice, and really quiet.

And you can watch the dolphins in Broadford Bay.
  • I have stayed in SYHA Broadford - nice enough hostel but didn't think Broadford was a particularly attractive place, also stayed in a small independent one in Portree (on the harbour), it was okay, great location and small rooms, stayed in the SYHA in Glenbrittle which is remote but great for walking in the Cuillins and nice hostel, but my favourite is the independent one in Flodigarry - you have the stunning Quirang/Trotternish rock formations on one side and the sea on the other, with great walking nearby and views to the mainland on clear days. Web site is: http://www.hostelflodigarry.co.uk/ Negatives are the rooms are quite big and the food in the pub next door was very average, pub was okay though.

Raasay hostel is suppossed to be good too - basic but great setting - not stayed there myself though.
