How to make SR. Flour

Please help. I was gonig to make a sponge pud. But I dont have any SR flour nor do I have any bicarb / baking powder. Is there any other way of making it? Also would it be possible to make the pud with soya flour or rice flour? I'm wheat intolerant. I was going to do it for tea tonight. So any help its greatly apprecaited.

  • You need a raisng agent like baking powder to make flour self-raising. Just curious, why were you going to use wheat flour if you are intolerant to it :) ?
  • I was going to make two well if the *normal* one turned out ok and if the other could of been made with my flour. One for me and one for OH. He isnt keen on my *funny flour* as he calls it.
  • Aah I see ;) I'm not sure about soy flour, I think I read somewhere that it wasn't a good 'straight' substitution for flour. It is OK added in small quantities to up the protein content of baked goods, and it also works as an egg replacer. I know nothing about rice flour except that it is good in biscuits.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
