Hi All,
Think I have this in the correct place, forgive me if not.
I love mackerel and am determined to try and catch some myself this year and save some money!
I know they are a summer catch but I am wondering if there are any experienced fisherpeople out there who could tell me when is the earliest they are around?
Also, be good to know whats the best way to get them, feathers, spinners etc.
I paddle my kayak around the Portsmouth, Hayling Island area alot. I can get to some pretty inaccessable areas in my yak so if anyone can recommend any good mackerel bashing spots I would appreciate it!
Thanks.

Maybe a bit far for kyak, but Nab Tower was good spot, caught our mackeral bait there, well some did, not a nibble for me, gloom
If they are biting they are supposed to go for anything [except my line], including unbaited hooksEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Haha, I tried dragging some feathers off the back of the yak last year but had no success. Thinking of buying a dinky telescope rod to stick in my hatch.Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0

My son just stood on the beach (post GCSEs - so late June?) and couldn't get 'em off the hooks fast enough! That was at the Stokes Bay side of Gilkicker. :j:D:beer::eek::A:p:rotfl::cool::):(:T0
