Where Can I Find Wooden Pallets?

Hiya fellow norn ironers

Ive been racking my brains with this question and then thought perhaps someone on HERE will know:j

Im looking for a fair few of the wooden pallets that companies have goods delivered on.

Our house is very close to a road and there is a gap i need to close up so one of my dogs wont wander onto the road (the other 2 dont bother, but one has an obsesson with something -no idea what- across the road) and i know that companies cant sell these on, so thought id kill 2 birds with one stone and recycle those pallets while fixing the gap that leads to the road :money:

The problem is, where can i get them? I have put an ad on Freecycle and Gumtree, but not heard anything yet. I thought perhaps the council dump, but was advised that anything left there is then the councils property and could get prosecuted for taking them:mad:

SO! Does anyone know where i can get any? Im in Ballymena, but happy to travel to collect, just dont know where to find any

Any help, very much appreciated, thank you!!

  • just wait until the july and steal some from the bonfires or ask the local bonfire maker where they *get* theirs from lol
  • ask a farmer, my dad always had loads of pallets lying round the farm, dunno where he got them from, think possibly places that supplied jumbo bags of cattle feed etc.

These cost companies quite a bit which is why most of them are labeled "PROPERTY OF xxx"

They are not designed for fencing so why not spend a few quid and buy some treated wood?

  • blue pallets are designated as specific property of companies, such as larger chains Tesco and the likes. Normal wooden ones with no colours are generic and have no problem with being recycled, reused or resold.
