Help with DMP

I have had to delay my DMP from starting until 1st April but this means for my loans they will have no payment at the end of this month and non in March they will only be getting a payment on around 25 th April when my DMP starts .

I rang CCCS and one man said send token payments another man said for Feb you will have to send half of the payment or the creditors will not be very happy .I would struggle giving half payments but i do not want to get on the wrong side of the creditors even before my DMP has started .

I have no idea what to do or how much to send them as i say i will be missing two months payments before my DMP starts .I am thinking should i borrow off somebody but again i will have to pay it back so i will be oweing somebody yet again.

I would sent token payments for two months with a letter explaining when your DMP starts, so one token payment one month and one another if that makes sense.
  • My advice would be the same as your first CCCS man. Have they sent you some template letters? If so send the one telling them you are seeking advice about a DMP and therefore you are sending them a token payment until the correct payments have been worked out. If they didn't send you template letters I believe they and/or National Debtline have some good templates on their websites.

You will get letters - but that happens on a DMP anyway - you have to try and be strong and not worry too much about how they sound. Always seek advice from the CCCS if you get a letter that worries you. Good luck.

    Hi Carlos700

When we offer a DMP the pack we send out will contain a letter of notification that you fill in and forward onto your creditors, this allows you to put the start date on so if you have that fill the start date in as April 08 and send it off.
Regard making payments to your creditors before the DMP starts just a make a token payment of whatever you can afford, be it £1 or more.
If the creditors are calling you let them know your situation and provide your client reference number as this can normally help put the creditors at ease until the DMP starts and they are receiving your payments.

Hope this is helpful and good luck

    Hi

Do as Alan and ray suggest. A token payment of a £1 a month would be enough.

So send those letters of notification with the postal orders and then do your budget for the month. You needs to ensure that will give you enough to eat without using your CCs again.

it might be a good idea to cut them up now?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Thanks very much everyone for your support it helps so much getting advice like this i am so grateful to everyone thanks .

be arrned you will probably get phone calls while you are paying token payments and they will put enormous pressure on you to pay more and threaten you with all sorts. Ignore them! just calmly quote your CCCS number and say they are dealing with it. some of the calls can be horrible and intimidating but dont give in to paying any more than your token payments until your dmp starts. DMPs are great! you will feel incontrol of your money again and your debts will reduce. good luck
  • I have never given them my number when you say about the phone calls can they somehow get my number .I am x directory but could they get it from the phone company
  • Hi Carlos if you haven't given them your number you will be fine, they can't get your phone number when you are ex directory the phone companys won't give your number out. Try not to worry you will feel loads better when your dmp is up and running. Good luck!
