Hi my son and friend are going to Edinburgh on Sunday coming back Monday. I thought there was some special deals going on but the best I can find for them is £32.
Anyone know of anything better. I know they can get the bus cheaper but they prefer train.
Thanks

Have you checked the route using two single tickets as often that is cheaper than a return ticket.
Probably no time now but depending on your son's age he could have a Young Person's Rail Card for reduced tickets?0 -
For instance, cheap day ticket is only £6.40 dependant on which train he takes so 2 x £6.40 is much cheaper. Travelling on the same train a single is £9 so cheaper buying the day return or for more choice of trains a cheap day single is £9.70. No easy way of doing this, you need to spend time on it I'm afraid.
I used http://www.thetrainline.com/default.asp?href=&T2ID=4027_200821592190 -
If you book online in advance you can get the megabus for a £1 a journey although they tend to have to be 5 or 6 days in advance to get that fare. I used the buses for about 20 months and would never go back to the train (and I used to work for them!)Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0

I no longer use "TheTrainLine" since they charge BOTH a credit card fee AND now even a fee to collect your pre-paid tickets at a ticket machine in Station of departure.
I always book directly on a train company site such as https://www.nationalexpresseastcoast.co.uk (you do NOT have to be travelling with them) and there are NO such fees... I am sure that Scotrail probably have a similar set up though not familiar with their online ticket facility... usually best nowadays to book with a rail company direct since TrainLine introduced these fees....0 -
