Valentines "love box"

I thought i would post this as my OH was thrilled with his valentines present/s
I made some gingerbread cookies and iced them myself (although i didnt do a great job as i havent done anything like this before)
*All pictures are thumbnails so click to enlarge*

I had a go at "ribbon icing" although it didnt work out very well.

each one individual and personal

i bought some cellophane cheaply off ebay and split the cookies wrapping them in the cellophane and ribbon

both packs of heart cookies wrapped up with a box of chocs, toberlone (his fave) and a DVD.

All boxed up and ready to go
It doesnt look much but he loved it. He was really pleased with cookies and knew I had gone to a lot of effort.
The recipe i used was this and was really easy to make and he thought they taste fab.
Just thought i'd share that with everyone

Thanks Louise

My icing skills arent the best by anyone standard but i am hoping they will improve as i do more of these. I am sure the cellophane will be much cheaper now that valentines is done with. I bought the cutters from ebay too
I have tons of the stuff so if anyone would like a couple of sqaures of it then PM
free of course
I am going to make some for my OHs mum she loves ginger, I am putting together a hamper for her with a selection of fresh coffee, cafetiere, posh biscuits and some of these homemade ones. I might make the OH ice them as they will be more personal for her. Not sure how keen he will be on that though

Sugarpaste is much easier to use for your icing. :j
You just need a template/cutter a little smaller than the biscuit.
Here are some I have done over the years.

Above ones were done with sugarpaste.
These ones with royal icing.

We have a little cake dec shop local to us that does little bits of different colours for 50p
You can get it in supermarkets but have only seen small pack with red, green, black, yellow or plain white.
Also when colouring the icing paste colours are much better than those little bottles of liquid you get in supermarkets.
I use wilton colouring pastes when making cakes.:T they are fab and you only need a tiny bit to get a fab colour.

These are the ones but I get them local to me.
