Lexmark "printer" won't - please help!

Please can anyone suggest anything I can do to make my LexmarkX2470 print again?
It was doing fine until it ran out of ink, then we changed the cartridge, and now it just keeps saying "Paper Jam". It won't switch off (except at the mains socket) because the power button is flashing, presumably in warning at the Paper Jam. I just wish I could see any paper in there - we can't even see any little bits stuck - and it wasn't doing it before the cartridge was changed, anyhow.
My daughter (who did the actual change) says it printed out the alignment sheet, so it can't be anything wrong with the cartridge can it? then she needed to photocopy something but forgot to load any paper....and that's when it started to say Paper jam. Now it won't do any ***"! thing!
Thanks v much for reading all my waffle, .... Aloise

I had a printer recently that "jammed" constantly.
No traces of paper after the jam was removed.
It turned out that a small lever that detects paper jams had jammed in the "jam detected" position.
Have a close look at all the little levers and switches to see if they all move freely.0 -
Thanks both - that's easier said than done, isn't it? You might easily jam something else whilst poking about trying to un-jam whatever it is.:j
I LOVE that Technical Support advice....... Just going to get my hammer now.....
Seriously, I paid a very low price for this printer (Sainsbury's sale last summer) so I'm prepared to give the Shake a try. If all else fails I've still got the receipt......0
