However, this is only an indication of why insurers might rate a particular area higher than others. Other criminality such as fraud levels, flood risk etc could affect the rating. HTH.

beware of this advice - theft/crime statitics have a virtually negligable effect on car insurance rates0 -
I have a risk grade databse for car insurance for every post code in the country, however it is a number of years out of date, so it may have changed a lot, might be useful tho. PM me an email address and I will send it.0

Postcodes are assessed on crime stats and claim stats (which in turn are affected by crime stats obviously). Why do you talk such rubbish.0 -

He's not talking that much rubbish in this case. Fire and theft accounts for only about 5% of claims costs these days; third party claims and accidental damage which make up the bulk of losses are related to traffic density, not crime.0 -
I'm interested to learn that raskazz, I was just annoyed that yet again people get accused of bad advice. The OP mentioned theft & whether they'd moved to a 'better area' and my post was hardly leading him up the garden path. It's been pointed out that this was an ancient post but re your point, the highest claims costs comes from injury I would assume and as you say it's claim costs not claim volume.0

i will comment on bad advice when i see it, and i'm not the only person on the board who does that. In many ways it's an important feature of the board
I find it ironic that you claim to be annoyed when someone accuses you of giving bad avice, then at the same time say to me "why do you post so much rubbish"especially so when what i was posting was correct
maybe that's what annoyed you the most:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes it is true, basically the further away from the city, supposedly the lower the insurance. Or if infact you move away from a high crime area. Check this:
