Nationwide, C&G, The Cheshire, Alliance and Leicester (When they feel like it), Abbey on a good day have offered good deals, Halifax (again when it suits) and I think Britannia may.
I think what he means is they may not offer good deals for existing clients?!?0 -

Didn't mean to sound bolshy though!!!! I'm only there another 6 weeks until I go self employed as a broker anyway.
It's still a bit of an unfair statement though. We've picked up loads of new business in the last 6 months from customers who were being offered retention fixed rates with their current lenders above the 7% mark while ours were 6.44% on 2,3,5 and 10 yr fixed rates. I just feel the YBS retention deals are very competitive.0 -

Not all lenders help existing, most can be beaten else where. Most high street lenders are not at the top of the tables!

I'm joining a local IFA practice. Since I started in 2006 I always knew the next step would be into whole of market. It nearly happened in Sept 07 but the opportunity didn't work out. I made it my new years resolution to get a new job by Easter as a broker and can't wait to get going.
Have got about 4 months living expenses set aside, I've put together a marketing budget to buy leads and I can turn to the expertise of the 3 IFAs who are partners in the firm if I need to. I'm really looking forward to the challenge. The way I see it there is still plenty of business out there even during these tough times.
If I can get through 2008 then I can get through anything!!0 -

YBS were the lenders who rushed through a loan in one or two weeks for me when the IFA I was dealing with were dragging their heels. Paul, in the Wigan branch, remembers the events from 3 years ago when I spoke to him last week about a transfer of equity.
I don't have a bad thing to say about them apart from the existing borrowers part0 -

Your not wrong, this year is going to be hard work, it already is proving hard work! Estate agents in our area are slow and people are talking and doing nothing as they are unsure. One good thing is that the rubbish should leave the industry as they struggle to place business.
Good luck and the key is to work your nuts off! I can see the early friday afternoons of 2007 being thrown in and maybe even sat mornings in the estate agents! Not done that since I was employed!!0
