Oh no, I'm sorry! Just call me Daisy the thread killer!
Didn't mean to offend..........Up Jacob's Creek without a paddle!0 -
Don't worry you didn't offend just been off line for a couple of days! I have set a quit date for smoking of 1 March and following long discussion with OH on Friday evening he has said he would like to try and at least cut down iif not give up when we move house so looks like a fresh start all round!! I have already cut down to only buying a pack of 10 a day so already saving £2.50 a day and started doing some of the daily clicks and surveys. Just need to start selling some stuff on Ebay including my car!!
The mystery shopper thing looks like a possibility for OH, thanks for all the advise so far!0 -
Well a bit of maths this am has led me to the following!
We will lose about 12600 over the next 9 months with DH leaving work FT - we will be getting an income from him but as this will be variable dependent on teaching work that comes in I am not going to count it. That way it will all count as a bonus!
Big savings we can make
Me quitting smoking - 1621.80 saved over next 9 months
DD going PT to nursery -1827 over 9 months (from Xmas she will get her 2 1/2 hours free per day so we could reduce this again next year)
Using childcare vouchers - 1196 (tax relief)
DH not commuting to work when we move -2160
Change bank account to normal not premium -135
Total savings 6939.80 over 9 months  - if I can work on the rest to save another £5k per year then everything he earns will be extra! This is before even looking at utilities, shopping and car insurance etc etc
The mission continues!0 -
Had another chat with DH last night and I really don't think he gets it. He doesn't have to worry about any of this as I currently manage all the finances - accounts in my name, one bank card between 2 of us, I pay and manage all bills etc out of the 2 accounts (current and budget)
Because of his bankruptcy he is debt free I am not but working towards it this is why I think he doesn't see a problem.
So long chat last night involved me saying I wanted to do Tesco shop on line and explained reasons - cashback, free delivery to save on petrol etc, won't spend as much with random stuff being put into trolley! He then says but I want to goto Halfords to get these bits to service the car - ok him doing service will save money (a lot) so happy with that and have no problem with the bits he needs so I said hang on let me check - found we can order on line and get delivered and get points for spend - good DFW skills! He is miserable and sulky about this and makes me feel as if I am being a real spoil sport etc. Also explained as we only have 2 months left of him being paid regularly I want to try and save as much of this month and next month money to tied us over the first couple of months after move until he gets more work - again didn't say anything other than huff and puff but he obviously doesn't understand - laughs at me doing daily clicks and survey sites, haven't mentioned the binog ones yet! How do I get through to him about this?0 -
Well good news at last - just had my annual report and I have been recommended for promotion at last!! Hoped I would get the recommendation last year but due to time off for ill health it didn't happen. Have worked my little rear end off this past year and it is finally worth it. Now don't get me wrong this is ot a guarenteed promotion but it does me I stand a better chance next year when they are looking at who to give jobs to!!! It would mean a pay rise as well and an increase in my pension amount by a huge leap!! Sorry just really chuffed that my hard work has been recognised and had to share!!!0
