Nothing for me as OH working away at the moment, but I'm not that bothered about Valentines anyway.

Just a quick reminder that lillies are extremely toxic to cats, was reading somewhere (cant remember where) about a cat that had died as it had brushed against lilly pollen and then licked it off herself. Sorry if its off-topic but thought it was worth mentioning as not many people seem to know.

cat64 - I knew about that but its always worth mentioning. Don;t think its common knowledge. Can't remember where I heard it but it was a while back.
Its when they lick the pollen off the fur thats the problem -another reason for getting rid of the pollen before they're put in a vase.
Luckily our cats can't get to where the lilies are.
Worth a lot of gardening folk knowing that as well ..........if they have lilies in the garden and cats that could pose a risk.

Flowers at this time are a rip off.
I Got my GF some flowers last year some time from a guy that sells them in the city. Not a proper florist shop (expensive more or less all the time) and I think for 6 roses they were about £3. Today went to the same guy and he wants £15 for the same roses!

Thats not on is it! Im sure they didnt cost him anymore :rotfl:

Me and OH prefer private joke type gifts, these dont cost a packet either.

A good idea is (for next year- bit late for this year) is wooden roses, they look so pretty made into an arrangement and dont cost a bomb either plus you can sent them with a fragrance of your choice. At my local market a seller has these at 10 for £1.

None for me but not surprised as we dont do Valentines :D Would much prefer a romantic gesture/card out of the blue rather than on a set date. But thats just me.
I did get home to a nice surprise tho....Won a bottle of champers and some truffles from Omsco :T
  • I got a lovely meal of lamb shank carrots potatoes and parsnips, followed later by raspberry panacotta. Got a massive bunch of red and white carnations, leather gloves, and some chocolate from selfridges. Got him a signed george best photo in a mirrored frame and some nice blossom hill wine. We had a lovely evening.:rotfl:
