Hi, i'm a newbie to this forum but was just wondering if anyone can tell me is this fee the same as a mortgage exit fee and if so can I claim some of it back. Paid off my mortgage in june 2005 and was charged £195.00 or would that be about right. Thanks HTB0

No you can't. With exit fees you can only claim back the difference between what was detailed in the T & C's of the original loan and what you were charged when you redeemed the loan, not the whole amount

Sorry mate, like I said i'm new and was reading Martin's column in The News Of The World on sunday about mortgage exit fee's so decided to scroll through the forum to see if a redemption fee was one of the same. Did'nt look at the date of the thread (you'll be old one day lol) but thanks for answering my question anyway. Harry0
