RAC problem - saying non payment

Hi after some advice more than anything.
Had my car windows smashed so got RAC out to fix them. All done ok.
Have just received a letter saying we now owe immediate payment, the problem is we paid on the day and i cant find the receipt anywhere. Would they even repair a window to some random person and not get payment before leaving? I definately dont want to have to pay this again - any advice? I havent contacted the company yet.
