I'm in a similar situation, in that I have a share-scheme maturing in April, and am due £1300... but we're clearing it all off our CC's, and any treats will come out of the amount we'd normally put aside that month in servicing the debt (if you get me!) Best of luck with your driving test!
  • Hi Ia

I know I really should pay it all towards C/C however I do need this extra cash to cover these additional fee's for driving plus u should see my jeans - lol :D

If i could knock a single debt on the head in one go, i would be tempted to do that. You'd still have enough left for a crack at your driving test, and c'mon be honest you can probably pick up a new pair of jeans for a tenner if you shop around....

You were always going to spend the money on lessons, so carry on spending them out of your normal budget.

This is a real opportunity to wipe a fair chunk off your debt, don't waste it hun.
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....
    (it's part of my charm!)
  • Driving lessons & theory & practical tests have a nasty habit of going well over planned budgets. Hopefully, you'll pass first time, but it's not unusual for learners to take 2 or 3 tests & this really mounts up.
In my opinion, learning to drive will become more expensive as the Government introduce ever more obstacles & makes the test tougher.
Personally, I would get the test over & done with & then review your options when you know exactly what you have left

don't waste it you may regret it you were having to find the extra for driving anyway so pay off a debt and save/ebay etc to pay for your driving.
  • Yeah I think Im going to pay £700 off my Halifax card. It will reduce the figure by half and i wont pay a lot of interest on it. This is a very good oppertunity to reduce my debts. For some reason I find it easier to pay creditcards off once the balance is below £1000.
Keeping £300 as a back up for my additional lessons and my driving test. If I dont keeo this then I will be using money from my weekly budget so cant advoid keeping some really. I hopefully will not need all this amount so its possible I could pay more to credit cards.

Got my theory tomorrrow - wish me luck guys :)

    Thanks again
