I think the simple answer is, no, not State Pensions.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
I think we need a whole lot more information about you, your parents and the pensions involved.
Pension schemes are an absolute minefield - For example a pension fund, that has not been converted into an annuity before the age of 75 might well be payable by its trustees free of Inheritance Tax, Even funds already converted to annuities may have a minimum pay out condition, leaving a sum payable to the estate of the deceased.
That said, welcome to MSE, I expect an expert will be along soon if you can post more details of your individual situation.
Harry.
PS I don't think this is quite what you were meaning to discuss - more "bear" as in carry?

Many final salary company pensions will pay a pension to dependant children on the death of the parent.
If it is a private pension it depends on the type of anuity purchased0 -
my mother passed away 18 years ago she'd payed into a private pension for years and my father never heard anything from them, and my father passed away 5 years ago he too also had a private pension but i have no idea who they were with!!0

Their estate may well be due something then. Try TPAS as they can help or show you how to track down pensions:
