can you claim deceased parents pensions

hi all you will have to bare with me first thread!!
can anyone tell me if you can claim for deceased parents pensions?

    I think we need a whole lot more information about you, your parents and the pensions involved.

    Pension schemes are an absolute minefield - For example a pension fund, that has not been converted into an annuity before the age of 75 might well be payable by its trustees free of Inheritance Tax, Even funds already converted to annuities may have a minimum pay out condition, leaving a sum payable to the estate of the deceased.

    That said, welcome to MSE, I expect an expert will be along soon if you can post more details of your individual situation.

    Many final salary company pensions will pay a pension to dependant children on the death of the parent.
    If it is a private pension it depends on the type of anuity purchased
  • my mother passed away 18 years ago she'd payed into a private pension for years and my father never heard anything from them,and my father passed away 5 years ago he too also had a private pension but i have no idea who they were with!!
