  • Nice spot - what model is it?

    What does 'as new' mean?

I can't find any mention about the tuner - e.g. whether it's digital. Presumably it's not digital, in which case it's gonna be next to useless in a few years unless you fiddle about connecting it via a set-top box.
I suppose for that sort of money it'll be worth it if you get a couple of years out of it.

Don't understand - it doesn't have Freeview, so you would need to run a Freeview box through it anyway?????

Hardly next to useless, in some areas the optomistic forecast for analogue switch off is 2011, so plenty of use for the 5 analogue channels and you could also record from Sky.

I have a similar one to this and it is good for copying DVDs on (not copyright ones of course) using the HDD.

    Good find

It means that the product is graded, which means there is probably a small scratch or scuff on part of the unit. It should be in 100% working order however, so this looks like a decent deal to me.

If you already have a Freeview PVR, BT Vision or Sky Plus you only need a basic analogue DVD recorder as you'll use the set-top box for time shifting or recording one channel while you watch another. The DVD recorder is only needed for putting stuff that you want to keep onto a disc.

If it had a digital tuner, it would get the "Freeview" channels - what you refer to as a "Freeview box" is just an external digital tuner which allows older equipment to receive digital signals. You wouldn't need to run a set-top box with it if you were content with recording from analogue sources for as long as they are available, or you intend to link it to a cable or satellite receiver.

As I said, it's probably worth the money; not a great bargain though.
