Handmade pressies

:o

Ok, I have been making handmade bits for ages now, mostly jewellery and cards, but I have also done photo albums and other bits. I absolutely love making them and have accumulated a lot of crafty bits, so much so that I have my own craft room:D

But I always feel a bit cheap somehow....I have no idea why. I know how much work and often cost goes into making handmade things and I absolutely love getting handmade gifts from people. I am just not sure that others appreciate the work and expense involved. I would hate them to think I am being a cheapskate........

Can anyone shed any light on this??

Thanks:beer:

  • Im sure nobody thinks you area cheapskate at all....
I also make gifts and cards and love doing it... plus the people I give the gifts to are always really pleased... my Mum loves showing off the things I make for her ie scarfs, jewellery etc.

I love handmade things... my little sis made a piglet cushion in D&T at school years ago and I still have it now...

Keep on with the crafting... handmaking things can cost quite a bit... I do it for the enjoyment though.

I find that when I've made a present for someone - it can oten cost more than i would have spent if I'd gone and bought something.

I've made my own cards for a while now and always try to make it work out as cheap if not cheaper than buying them. People do appreciate the time and effort thats gone into anything thats been hand made I think - shows you've bothered to spend some of your own time just for them.
Haven't made much in the way of gifts though one year, being terribly broke I made everyones christmas pressie............pressed some leaves from the local park and framed them randomly in old battered frame.........took some herbs that I'd got,put them in little gingham bags (material leftover from curtains)..........framed a lace doile that was doing nothing except sitting in the cupboard, decorated the front of a plain notebook, painted an old biscuit tin, stuck a cutout of Santa from an old Christmas card and put it on the top and filled it with home made biscuits...................theres no end really to the stuff you can do really cheaply once you look around the house at odds and sods.
