  • Hi Oxfordlad,

Just wanted to send you a big:grouphug: .
You sound so down but I want you not to panic (easier said than done I know). There'll be loads of advice for you soon and you'll be so glad you posted on here - you will see that light at the end of the tunnel.

I haven't looked properly at your SOA yet but I would definitely advise you to call CCCS or Payplan ,ASAP they're both really really helpful.

Keep posting - you'll be amazed how much help there is on here.
Worry is like a rocking chair - it keeps you busy but it gets you nowhere.

    Hi

    Just wanted to second that!!

I know kinda how your feeling right now and these guys have helped me no end. I was suffering from bad depression when i had my lightbulb moment and got help with my debts. I started with a similar amount to you with the same salary in april last year and ive got it down by nearly £10k. I went to the CCCS for advice who were brilliant and helped me get out of what seemed like an impossible situation! they will look at what you earn.. give you advice on you debts amounts and then if possible set you up on a debt management plan where they will agree lower payments with your creditors. Theyve also frozen the interest on most of my debt! dont worry they will leave you enough money to live with too!

Have yourself a scout around this forum when you get a chance and you'll find ways of bringing in some extra income too, often from ways you would never think of lol!

Hopes this helps you in some way

  • Hi Oxfordlad,

to repeat the previous post, I know how hard it is to find that light, even now i feel like im getting somewhere then are kicked back down by something else, but it has taken me 7 years to improve myself to this state.

If your debt is seriously in trouble with no chance of paying it back and reaching agreement you need to enlist the support and help of a free supporter as advised before.

However there are many other ways you can help yourself, by making what Martin calls painful savings.

Your Sky and phone are costing £56 a month - I have virgin 3 for £30 - granted not as good as sky, but its a start. soon i may be moving to freeview only to make further saving. even look into moving into a bundle.

Enter your phone no or postcode here:

    http://www.samknows.com/broadband/checker2.php

this site will let you know what companies have unbundled your local exchange and may be able to offer tv/phone/internet for alot less per month.

Im on just over £1000 a month, my partner is on statuatory maternity pay and we get £20 a week child tax credit no housing benefit or council benefit etc. As a result i have not spent a penny on hair cuts or clothes in nearly a year.

get onto comparison sites to find cheaper pet insurance. or better still, if you dont expect any vet bills soon and are unlikely to (e.g. indoors cat, not a dog etc) put the money into a savings account instead.

its not easy and alot of the ways to get your account in the right end is painful. but once done the conscious is good.

even if planning to go down the bankruptcy/IFA style route (not sure on the exact options in england) i'd personally say going through martins budget planner and making those cuts may be better for your health anyway and prevent the situation occurring again
