Hello there, have taken the bull by the horns and signed up to my first mystery shop assignment on friday with Bare- a financial shop. I have found it extremely stressful so far, with tests to pass etc, and not even done the blooming ms yet, is there anything I need to remember/ any tips or hints. I know I can't report the persons gender but am reeeeally worried incase I make a mess of it and don't get paid. Thanks.

what I do is I go through the brief then the questionnaire before doing the job and take notes. I then make a note of specific things I must note ie time in, name of assistant that have a specific answer. I then give general notes ie cleanliness of the place. Most of the questions will ask a question such as did the assistant recommend something. Well you will know if they did or didnt when you come out.
I then fill in the report near but not in vision. This means if there is something I forgot to check then I can quickly nip back and check.
When you fill in read over afterwards to make sure it makes sense and it gramatically correct. Dont worry its usually more daunting thinking about it and when you come out you realise you were worrying about nothing.0 -
Just be really thorough, read the brief and follow the instructions to the letter, any omissions or errors could be an excuse not to pay you, be confident as well. It's a strange job doing mystery shopping, like you're a spy or something but relax, no one knows. My sister used to print the brief and sit down with a coffee prior to the MS and read it over until she had it straight. Just make sure the person/company don't see the paper work. A good tip from the MSer above is to fill out the report virtually straight away and that way you don't forget anything. It is quite easy when you get used to it, honestly you'll be wondering what all the fuss was about, good luck!!!!:A :

Have just about stopped shaking, I got great service, though did feel a right imposter which I didn't enjoy. I know it helps them to do their jobs better I guess knowing that they are going to be mystery shopped. I've submitted my report and will feel a whole lot better if I get paid for it - until then am feeling a little sceptical. Thanks for everyones advice. How did it go hun?I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0 -
Ah no need to be, I felt exactly the same way and still get nervous about getting paid a few months on lol0
