Glasgow car parking - Springfield Quay etc

Options
Hi
We're off to Glasgow for a few days. Staying over near Springfield Quay. Does anyone know what the parking is like around there? We were hoping we could leave the car somewhere for most of the time and go around on public transport. Any info gratefully received.:D

if you are staying in a hotel there should be parking lots for patrons. certainly there is one at springfield quay complex itself where the odeon and restaurants (and now new hotel) are, but i don't know the terms and conditions attached.

you can leave your car a bit further up govan road on the left hand side (heading toward govan) in one of the side streets which is street parking and free. just look for a legal free spacel (please) remember to be courteous to the local residents.

there is an underground station close to there as well- the kinning park station

Are you at the travel lodge type place? If so they have a big carpark and you should be able to leave the car there--if not the quay is HUGE and there is loads of spaces.
Buy an all day bus ticket ( on first buses) and you can hop on and off all day all around Glasgow. Think they are about £3.

This is the web site and has details of park and ride and also public transport journey planner ( fab) Its probably easier to get the underground to places like the transport musuem and the art gallery-both great places to visit.

How about using the City bus tour for both it's tour guide facility and as a way to get about. The advantage is it takes you to all the likely places you'd want to visit and your ticket covers 2 days. It's a short walk over the River Clyde to one of the pick-up points.Check it out here-:

Free parking at the Quay and plenty of eating places.

Also Glasgow city council does a few leaflets that provide you with money off coupons for many of the cities sights. You'll find these at many of the sights or in hotels. Remember all Glasgow museums are FREE! and there are some crackers...

  • I dont know Id fancy leaving my car in the Quay car park, I know its awful cheeky but if youre not staying at the Travel Lodge place I think Id be tempted to leave my car there anyway
  • Thanks one and all - you were right KD & ew, there were loads of spaces at the Quay. (The hotel site said there was no parking nearby!!) Anyway, had a great time in Glasgow. Loads to see & do - especially liked the West End. Well worth a visit.
