Two of my friends have just had babies, one girl and one boy.
I hadn't budgeted for these births this month so can't afford to spend much.
Haven't got a clue what to buy and can't spend all day trekking round shops.
Hoping some MSE-ers wuld have some good ideas of what to get and where from.
Thanks in advance.
I have posted this in a few places so if there is somewhere better to put this thread then please move it, cheers.

Hi
I understand its difficult to budget for things like this, but what would be one of the greatest presents, than a voucher offering so many nights babysitting services over the next year or so, I imagine that like most new parents, they have received loads of babygrows and cute outfits, but babies grow out of these so quickly, a pressie of babysitting would be original and more importantly cost you nothing but time.
I hope that this helps you.Make it happen (old signature)

In the pound shop they sell lovely baskets that are lined with white material. Wander round the pound shop.. fill your baskets with baby bath, talc, wipes, bibs. thermometre, soft toy, bottle, rattle, bath toy, cotton wall balls, baby sun cream etc. Go to the florist and ask for some bouquet wrap and ask them to make you a pink bow and a blue bow (I do my own but just in case you haven`t got ribbon and dont know how to make bows) They will not charge much. arrange all the items in the basket, wrap in the bouquet wrap and put the bows on and hey presto - impresive pressies for about £6.00 each.....always goes down well for me!I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes

Hi I don't know if this helps but my local boots had loads of mamas and papas stuff really cheap I'm in portsmouth also they had pooh bear gift packs they had a tigger rattle, muslin and bib for £4.00. H&M sale is really cheap for baby clothes if you want an outfit or if you could hold of till the weekend you could try the next sale.
Think the babysitting vouchers is a great idea though as would love someone to do this for me, I have a five month old and feel awful as in MIL anytime I want some help.
Hope this helps0 -
