Please help....

I don't know if anyone can at least give me some advice as I feel like i'm in a blackhole. In a nutshell, I have approx 30k of outstanding debt which is being paid at £124.00 via a DMP through the CCCS. It doesnt take a genius to work out that it will be along time before I am debt free.

I have only recently found out that one of my creditors (HSBC) has continued to charge me interest at a higher rate than I was paying in - 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

I have recently tried to remortgage in order to replace the windows and kitchen which are desperately in need of repair, but no surprise that I got knocked back.

Is there any advice to help me get out of this or is it simply "you've made your bed now lay in it". I feel terrible for my wife and kids as this has had nothing to do with them, but it is them that are suffering the most.

Any little piece of advice would be gratefully received.

    Hi andy0776,

Welcome to dfw. Pants that HSBC is charging interest still.

Have you done a SOA for cccs? If you post it hear the knowledgeable and helpful dfws will give it the 3rd degree to see if they can find ways of getting stuff cheaper.

As you have your own place is there a chance of letting a room/taking a lodger? Otherwise could you take on an extra job in the evening, maybe barwork?

Have you told CCCS that HSBC are continuing to charge interest & the rate they are charging?
  • Thanks for the quick replies! I can post all my ins and outs later to see if anyone can help there. As for taking on a lodger, I have a 3-bed house with 2 kids and 3rd due in June!!! Not sure the shed will generate much income :)

I am in the process of turning my lifelong hobby of photography into a wedding photography business however its the usual catch-22 situation. I need to spend some money to get this really moving, but I dont have this cash. Most people would get a small loan or stick it on the credit card - a luxury I obviously no longer have.

Can you offer your photography services on the Weddings sub-board? On a "Opening offer", low-price basis, then you will get a few for your portfolio....
  • Firstly, I have informed the CCCS about HSBC who have agreed to write to them to stop the interest (horse/gate).

I wasnt aware of the wedding section so I will post there!

    Many thanks
