g4fne said "I also echo similar sentiments in that i also thought the "Competition Ending" threads were an excellent addition to the forum & had it of been given more of a chance & perhaps a few guidelines (ie ... not posting until few days before end date) then i am unable to see why so much fuss was caused  .... surely, anything that makes peoples lives a litle easier benefits the "fun" element of the site :j

Finally, i would also like to thank the people for their hard work, contribution & general initiative in the "comp ending" threads ... it was a great idea & i for one, would welcome it back anytime :money:"

    I couldn't say it better myself :T
I hope the Board Guides see all these positive comments about these comp ending threads......would it be such a bad thing to accommodate different ideas? Seems so....what a loss to us MSE'ers who found these lists so invaluable :(
Thank you to all who post, whether it be a list or a single comp - it is always appreciated :kisses:
Wishing every-one love, light and laughter
:A Thank you to all who post xxx :A
  • I fully agree with alot of the comments here and feel these comp ending lists have been a god send and certainly encouraged me to comp more seriously as it was extemely difficult to search before

I would love to see the lists continued and some form of compromise reached with the men upstairs to allow this

Thanks to everyone involved for all their hard work and effort
Comp wins 2010 (Feb onwards) - loads of books, CD, Toys, Photographic lighting rig, Mobile phone, 16GB ipod Nano, Digital camera

    Comp wins 09 - £4500, 08 - £345.70!
  • Well this is me signing up to the "please allow the continuation of the daily comps ending lists" petition

They have been wonderful, as are the people who took the time to compile them :T :A

I don't normally look at the comp ending threads as I don't use them but I noticed the extra posts being added so decided to have a peek. I'm actually on the other side of the fence about comp ending dates, but I think if you want to urge the BGs to keep the comps ending date you should do it in the discussions forum, or the sticky on end date/ comps ending. BGs don't read all the threads and while I'm not advocating a campaign or petition to re-instate them I do think a balanced debate would be healthy so as both sides can understand the views of the other.

    Just my 2p worth.

We have this morning been instructed by the forum board guides to cease creating these 'Competitions Ending' lists. The last one will be the 29/02 and all dates up till then will still be completed.
Very Very sad and I am very disappointed.

Yes, you can do the filter by thready thingy whatsit...but it is great to settle down with a long list and go through them..I have been surprised at how many I had missed.
The lists were compiled by those who care and enjoy it..yes, there were a few mix ups...but world war three didn't break out and it has been sorted.

I am very disappointed in the Board Guides, and not impressed with the use of their power. It isn't being a GUIDE to FORBID something that people have been doing.

I hope there is a way of putting over the feelings..and from reading this I am not the only one who feels that way.
BGs don't read all the threads and while I'm not advocating a campaign or petition to re-instate them I do think a balanced debate would be healthy so as both sides can understand the views of the other.
Then maybe they should....especially in this case, as it is more complicated to go from one forum to another for the same subject.
I really like MSE...but lately it has been getting full of people getting a bit too full of themselves....chill..it's a hobby..we are not the Houses of Parliament. Guide don't RULE.
I JUST DON'T LIKE THE HEAVY HANDEDNESS SHOWN HERE.
    Good Luck All

I found the ending threads very helpful, and just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped to do them.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Dam just seen the news, I thought the end-date lists were a brilliant idea and am so grateful to the folk who took time out to do them for us. xx

Just a suggestion, but perhaps those of us that are unhappy with the "ruling" of stopping the "ending comp" threads should all post our concerns on one thread, perhaps this would voice our opinion on this with greater influence

Perhaps posting on this "sticky" thread would be an option http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=8770239#post8770239 :confused:

Rhani, I'm sorry you feel that way about MSE. It is a great place. I've saved £1000s and won lots of v nice prizes since joining a couple of years ago. I still think its a great place but have come to understand they simply do not have the resources to make this a 'perfectly fair' place, and the rules are there to make the board run as smoothly as possible with the least amount of resource (interference) from MSE towers.

There's a whole sun-forum on the rules here if you want to take it up with them.

What I believe Divadee has said is "We are not adverse with change and do as much as we can to please teh majority of compers.", so they will listen, but they can't listen to every single post in every single thread - remember the BGs are unpaid volunteers - so, what I hope I was suggesting was for you to voice your opinions in a place where they are more likely to be heard. I would point out you will get contrary opinions and at the end of the day, what BGs say, goes, MSE is not a democracy.
