If I make cakes in the standard cake cases I dont use a muffin tin, I just stand the cases on a baking tray. Be careful not to over fill the cases either, try putting a spoonful of mixture in the cases at a time. You should aim to fill the cases half full.:j

A cupcake would be where you don't put so much mix in the cases, and put a thick layer of icing all over the top to totally cover the sponge.

Muffins - quite different texture and of course much bigger and deeper.

Maybe my house is just weird though lol! Interesting to find out how others see the distinction.

Butterfly cakes were the only thing my mom could do when we were children... Thank goodness for the buttercream though cos her cake mix was always so dry!
