Help !! Need some advice NOW !!

Hi
I have debts of approx £17,500 on credit cards and 2 personal loans. I have always kept up my repayments but now find I have very little money left to live on after I have made all my payments.
My partner, who is religious about paying off his credit cards etc.. has no idea of the situation I am in and I know he would total lose it if I tell him, there is the possibility he would actually make me leave !! We actually had an arguement over something trivial and he said we might as well finish now (after 20 years together)
I have read through some of the threads on this site and have contacted the CCCS who have suggested a DMP of £304 per month (which I can manage) my BIG concern is that if I go ahead and set this up that I will be bombarded with harrassing phone calls, which would be very difficult to explain to my partner. I know the answer is to tell him everything but believe me he would be so angry with me (I I suppose I don't blame him).
Can anyone give me an idea of what has happened to them after the have setup the DMP and what kind of communication they received from their creditors.
