I am so upset

I knew my car needed an mot and tax at the end of jan and had budgeted accordingly, sadly the head gasket went and the garage said it was not really worth doing ( it was an old banger, all I can afford!) So I scraped together enough to buy another car it had a years mot but had a couple of things wrong with it which I paid to have fixed in total I spent £900 not a lot I know but a lot for me. on sunday the radiator went on the "new" car and last night the garage told me in fact it is the head gasket....two head gaskets in 4 weeks how unlucky is that? I am so upset as I felt I was doing well on my dmp and had budgeted carefully for a credit free christmas and for the telephone bill and car bills I knew were coming in in jan. The garage I use is loacl and they are brilliant often dont charge me for small things and they are almost as upset as me about this latest development. It's academic wether I buy another car or get the head gasket fixed on this one as i just dont have any spare money at the moment. My commute is cheaper by car and 2 hours less on an already long day, there are no car shares at the moment and I'm at my wits end!

:grouphug: Did you buy it privately or through a garage? If the latter, it might be worth going back to them as it is such a short time?

sadly it was bought as seen with no warrenty. that will teach me!
  • Look around for local mechanics. The head gasket went on my hubby's car a few weeks ago and we had quotes for £350-£700 from garages.

Mechanic who lives near us fixed it for £180. :)
