M&S school uniform discount

M&S currently have an offer of spend £25 or more on uniform and receive £5 discount.

I spent £46 so had the £5 off but today I took back most of the stuff except for a set of blouses (£18). They refunded me everything but I kept £5 discount.

I wonder if I would have kept the £5 discount if I had taken everything back. Potential to make money here. Also if you are spending £50 buy in two £25 transactions to get the £5 discount each time as the Sales assistant confirmed you would only get £5 on a £50 transaction otherwise. The £50 shop would there cost £40.

thanks for this, i hadnt bothered yet as it was £5 discount on £50 spend but i will go and get some bits later in the week now
I am looking forward to getting out as i was in hospital on thursday for some lumber root nerve injections ( first ever general anaesthetic. what a funny feeling) and have missed the start of m and s sale and the end of index sale, so i am getting ready to be let out again.
