Competitions Ending 19th February 2008

  • We have this morning been instructed by the forum board guides to cease creating these 'Competitions Ending' lists. The last one will be the 29/02 and all dates up till then will still be completed.

    PLEASE DON'T PANIC

There is a very simple way for us to change how the forums is displayed. It will re-sort the competitions listing by the title instead and therefore group expiry dates together making them easier to find.

Please take the time to understand this as it will remain the ONLY way to find comps by the end date. I suggest you open another window/tab with THIS PAGE so you can see exactly what I'm on about.

When you first look at page 1 of the 'Competitions Time' you'll see it displayed in the 'default' method of LAST POST. You can check this by looking for the little triangle next to 'Last Post'. This way shows the most recent message displayed.. all the way back to the oldest.

Any of those blue column headers (Thread/ThreadStarter/Last Post/Replies/Views) can be clicked on instead and therefore altering the way the entire list is displayed.

The one we'll need to start using is the header 'THREAD'. (The one right next to it sorts the display into order of who posted the thread first and although handy to some is not part of this explanation.)

By clicking on THREAD you'll alter the way the entire list is displayed and this time by the title of each thread. Now why is this important? Well each post should now display the end date of the comp (eg. E: 01/03). When you look at the list filtered by THREAD it will be sequentially ordered by date. MAGIC!!

To change the list back simply click once again on LAST POST to re-order it back in the default manner.

    Please try this out.

  • Am I the only one that couldnt make head nor tails of that? x
  • The important bits are in bold.

Have you tried to do it?

  • I've done exactly as you said, and the threads start on 01/03.. with 01/05 next to them, and back to 01/03.. how exactly is that in order? Its a shame the compiled lists have had to end.
  • The dates are all over the place at the moment but the board guides have also agreed to be stricter on the way the posts are posted with the expiry date format. Please read the sticky on page 1 of the comps. This format thing will sort that mess out once and for all.

Today I've contacted the largest volume posters in the hope they'll implement the format asap. Some have been kind enough to alter their posts right away. But I've also had a lot of grief over it. I personally can't wait until February is over! :D

  • I will happily put the comp ending date in the format set out (allthough I thought I already did apart from the space after the "E"), but I also think its a real shame the daily lists have to end - they were a real godsend for people who dont have time to check throught the comps for ones ending that day to double-check they have entered them!.
A huge "THANK YOU" to those of you who have spent hours trawling through pages of comps to provide us with the daily lists we have grown so fond of x

  • I think it's such a shame that these competition ending posts have to end. As a beginner it helps me out and saves me so much time, thank you for the comps so far although nothing has come my way

I also appreciate the lists but can understand why they must stop. I look at it this way, if I haven't entered then I haven't entered! Not the end of the world. Hope the new system works well. Thank you to all who have posted these threads.
Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A
    I would like to be lucky,healthy & happy in 2020! :T
