COMPETITION: Win two Portishead Tickets

To see in February, we have another great competition. We have two Portishead tickets up for grabs for their Hammersmith Apollo gig, April 14th.
Portishead are one of the best things that tumbled out of the 90s. Forget Blur, Rave and Take That.
They created an intense sound, unique and inspiring, alluring and wonderfully mesmerizing. They Trip-Hopped their way to success, blasting us with swirling beats and smatterings of jarring vocals, provided by the incredible Beth Gibbons.
The Bristol based band released their debut album, Dummy, in ‘94 which paved the way for their spectacular Hip-Hop, experimental sound. Dummy featured Portishead classics like Wondering Star and Numb.
A second album followed in ’97 and a live album, Roseland NYC Live , in ’98.

For the last ten years, Portishead drifted, pursuing solo careers and occasionally adding new MySpace tracks. In December 2007, they headlined All Tomorrows Parties, playing their first full sets in nearly ten years.
With their third studio album - funnily enough named Third - on the brink of release, Portishead have scheduled a small UK tour in Manchester, London, Wolverhampton and Edinburgh.

We have two tickets up for grabs for Portishead at the Hammersmith Apollo, on April 10th, at 7pm.
To enter our competition, please tell us which three gigs you are looking forward to and why in 2008. Please leave your comments below. The winner will be picked at random and notified by email.

Yeah, I know - I assumed it was a typo, and should have read 't' instead of '4'!!icon12.gif
