A very good friend of mine has just married and is still using her previous name to apply for credit etc.
Is she acting within the Law?
Thanks to anyone whom can help.

Its normally what people do when they are up to their eyeballs in debt.
Her credit records will cross reference between all her aliases.0 -
As far as I know she is building her credit file and is concerned that adding a second surname may lead to problems/confusion within her file which may result in declines.0

There is no legal obligation on women to change their name when they get married, so if she's just using her maiden name, that's fine. I guess it must be different if she uses her married name AND her maiden name.0

Its not illegal to use more than one name as long as it is not for fraudulant purposes. If you were to apply for a loan using another name *and* you can answer the questions on the application truthfully *and* you intend to repay the money, then it is not fraud.
