Gala Day ideas

Little boy has been chosen for our village's Gala Day court. As part of the Gala day celebrations we also decorate our garden to celebrate the event. Does anyone have any advice,recommendations or tips they could share. Even suggestions for a theme - he's 7, and is currently saying he wants a Ben 10 theme, but maybe you could suggest an alternative. Any suggestions at all would be appreciated - not sure where to start.
